North East Information Line (NEIL)

NEIL is a telephone facility provided by BT which allows messages from any partner organisation to be put onto a ‘voice bank’ system, which can be accessed by members of the public.

The telephone number of the North East Information Line (NEIL) is:

In the event of an emergency, members of the public are encouraged to call NEIL to receive information on what the emergency is, how it is developing, for instructions on what to do (i.e. to ‘Go In, Stay In, Tune In’), and to receive reassurance that the emergency is being managed.
